Have you visited a place where humans and Leopards live in harmony? Probably the place I visit often is the only one on Earth with this elusive sight. It’s the Jawai Leopard Conservation Reserve<\/strong> in Bera – a beautiful hamlet in Rajasthan. Popular as the ‘Leopard Country’ it is home to both Leopards and a nomadic tribe called Rabari herdsmen for decades. My wildlife photography experience in this place has just been of the next level.<\/p>\n

Jawai Leopard Conservation Reserve<\/strong> is the only place in India where you can spot these creatures any time of the day. If you are a Leopard fan, Jawai will bring your dream come true – in the most unpredictable way.<\/p>\n

The sanctuary is a tourist hotspot not just for its Leopards and birds. The colourful native tribe living in the region is a part of every tourist’s wishlist. Then there is the Jawai Dam, the biggest dam in western Rajasthan that adds more excitement to the trip.<\/p>\n

Jawai Leopard Conservation Reserve<\/strong> features a stunning landscape that is perfect for the Leopards to call it home. The place is entirely surrounded by rocky terrain and pastoral fields merging into wild grasslands. You can see granite rock formations all around you in myriad shapes. Amidst this, Leopards can be seen roaming at the heart of an untrammelled wilderness. The Rabari herdsmen who have been sharing the land with wildlife for centuries have been continuing link between local culture and wildlife.<\/p>\n

As the Jawai Wildlife Reserve<\/strong> is home to the biggest population of Leopards, spotting these elusive cats is easy. Other animal species you can come across are Crocodiles, Nilgai, Hyena, Jungle Cat, Indian Grey Mongoose and Sloth Bear.<\/p>\n

Birdwatchers there is a long to-do list for you in the Jawai Leopard Conservation Reserve.<\/strong> You will have the most magnificent time of your life discovering numerous bird species. These include Owl, Osprey, Egrets, Pond Heron, Indian Robin, Black-shouldered Kite, parakeet, common sandpiper, house sparrow, sarus crane, large cuckoo shrike, pelicans, ruddy shelduck, greylag goose, pelicans, Asian openbill stork, common sandpiper, grey-headed canary fly-catcher, black ibis, red throat-ed fly-catcher, and oriental magpie robin.<\/p>\n\n\n

Best Time To Visit Jawai Wildlife Sanctuary<\/h2>\n\n\n

Visit Jawai Leopard Conservation Reserve<\/strong> in the months of October, November and February when the weather is quite pleasant. You’ll be able to watch Leopards for long duration without any difficulty. And if you are a keen birdwatcher, December and January are the best months to enjoy migratory birds in the waters of Jawai Dam.<\/p>\n\n\n
